The First 2025 President’s Message

Greetings Gates!

It was a pleasure seeing many of you at our December Holiday Potluck! Thank you to all those that helped set up, decorate, cook, and clean up. I hope you all liked your cactus/succulent give away. I was definitely excited by the diverse options when we picked them up. Also, congratulations to the Mini-Show High-Points winners: Martin Look (59 pts), Nicole Oceguera (49 pts), Karen Roholt (48 pts), Tommy Dodson (26 pts), Tara Quick (24 pts), Daniel Zepeda (23 pts), Tom Perez (22 pts), Rebecca Wooster (19 pts), Rego Quintero (19 pts), Ann Plazter (19 pts), and June Scales (19 pts). As several of the winners were not in attendance, the trophies (Tom Perez pots) were selected on your behalf. Please see me to pick up your trophy/pot at our next meeting.

Our club’s May show and sale is a little more than 5 months away. While that may sound like a long time, it takes quite a bit of preparation, planning, and people to pull off a successful event! One of our most valuable assets when preparing for the annual show and sale is our members. We need many committed members to volunteer for our event. While it is awesome to have many of you come out to shop and exhibit your beautiful plants, the Board very much needs members to assist with set-up, sales, kitchen duty, etc. Please see a Board member during our meetings to volunteer for our show and sale.

As this month starts a new year, your annual club membership fee is due. Your membership dues go towards our speakers, rent, fees, etc. I have attached the renewal form to the end of the newsletter should you wish to fill it out and bring it to the next meeting. You are also welcome to become a member, save a copy, complete the fields, and email me at gatescactusandsucculent@gmail.com.

See you all soon! All my best,

Jeffrey Loew
