I am glad things are finally cooling down after this most recent heat wave. I’ve been making sure all my plants are well hydrated. For those of you affected by the recent fires, I hope you and your families are all safe. We will still be having this Friday’s September meeting.
This month’s speaker will be Gunnar Eisel. He will be speaking to us about the wonderful gardens at Pitzer College in Claremont.
We have finalized a date for our club’s annual potluck barbeque. Judy Horne has once again graciously invited us to her Yucaipa home for this event. This will be Saturday October 19th at 3PM. The club will be grilling hamburgers and hotdogs. Please bring your favorite dish to share with the club. We will also be holding our annual Cactus Cook-Off competition to feature cacti dishes such as chili, soups, salads, etc. If you have a potentially award winning receipt that you would like to share with the club… now is the time! Additional details and address to be provided at the meeting.
Finally, The church’s leadership team has notified us that we will no longer be able to store club items on the property. Unfortunately, this means that we will need to move the library. Until we figure out a more permanent plan, the library will not be available. We ask that you return any check-out books at Friday’s meeting.
See you all soon!
All my best,
Jeffrey Loew
