President’s Letter – March, 2022

Welcome back again everyone.  It is with great fanfare to announce that the club will have the March general meeting in-person on Wednesday, March the 2nd.  It was sad that last month’s meeting had to be canceled, but we hope that everyone will consider coming back to this upcoming meeting.  Our guest speaker, Woody Minnich, is planning on and looking forward to giving a live presentation of his talk.  Woody’s presentation is never boring and always memorable.  He will also be bringing plants for sale.  Be sure to read his biography and information about his Peru adventure in this newsletter.

Congratulations to Joann Crabtree as the recipient of the Hazelle Newman Achievement Award for 2021.  Thank you to everyone who had cast their vote as we did not anticipate the club not being able to vote in-person last month with the canceled meeting.  Joann will be acknowledged with an award plaque at a later date.  Thank you Joann.

The club is planning to host our annual plant sale back again in May.  The two-day plant sale will be on Friday and Saturday, May 6-7th prior to Mother’s Day.  We will be setting up the vendor table outdoors in the enclosed grass area behind the church.  Because of a shortage of member volunteers and time commitment, there will not be a plant show this year.  Yes, the plant show has always been an integral part of the annual event but current circumstances are beyond anyone’s control.  Some members may be disappointed to hear this news as they want to showcase their succulent plants with their colleagues.  More volunteers and help are always welcome!  Please contact any of the Board members.

As a reminder, a mask covering the nose and mouth must be worn while indoors at all times.  There will be no food or drinks available during the meeting but you may bring and consume your own outside of the facility.

With spring season quickly approaching, many plant/gardening events are scheduled to take place.  You can get updates of these events on the club’s website.  Please also share any information you may have of other plant-related events with us.  Remember to enter your plants in the mini plant show at the meeting.

See everyone at the meeting!
