Member Gardens Joanne Levine

Joanne Levine is a self-described “succulent maniac” with a particular obsession: aloes. Her collection features specimens sourced primarily from Ethiopia and Uganda, including three Aloe Angelica, species considered exceptionally rare in cultivation. 

For Joanne, every plant in her garden holds a special place, though aloes remain her undisputed favorite category of succulents.

Her dedication to the hobby goes beyond browsing local nurseries. Joanne travels exclusively to acquire unusual and hard-to-find plants, venturing far and wide in pursuit of the extraordinary.

By profession, Joanne has spent nearly 40 years in healing work, with earlier experience teaching critical care in Spanish before transitioning into Reiki. She has been a proud member of the Gates Succulent Society since 2014 and is passionate about the community it has built around shared plant enthusiasm.
